We rebuilt JSX’s mobile app in Flutter with 100% test coverage, connected it to Navitaire through Navitaire’s Dart SDK, and carried the design onto hangar screens and the in-flight home page. Then we handed the whole thing to JSX’s own team.

01The ask

Own the app, and make room for more than flights.

JSX flies semi-private, short-haul routes across the United States, with the perks of private aviation at attainable fares. As it grew, it wanted more ownership of its digital customer experience.

The mobile app was built on Xamarin and leaned on outside expertise. JSX also wanted revenue beyond the seat, from loyalty programs, rental cars, and other services, and the old app wasn’t built for them.

In their words

  • “The team has done an amazing job. Our team has had nothing but positive things to say. Thank the team for me as they’ve performed this transition above expectations.”

Chief Information Officer, JSX Craig Airitam

02Design first

Audit the screens, then build the system.

We started with a full UX and UI audit to line the designs up with JSX’s brand and its operations. From it came reusable components and simpler workflows, which became a design system that keeps every screen consistent.

Close work with JSX’s stakeholders shaped the architecture calls, so the app is set up for the growth and digital plans JSX has.

03The build

Every line tested, every change through CI/CD.

We built a modular, enterprise-grade Flutter app with 100% test coverage, CI/CD pipelines, and automated quality checks.

Navitaire’s Dart SDK handled the backend connection. The team worked through the hard parts of the Navitaire integration and tightened internal processes along the way.

04Beyond the app

The brand carried off the phone and into the hangar.

Our design team took JSX’s brand past the app. The Flight Information Display System shows real-time flight updates in JSX hangars.

The In-Flight Web Home Page is a responsive site on board with flight status, refreshment options, and exclusive promotions.

05What changed

JSX went from supporting its app to owning it.

  • Ownership

    A handoff JSX leadership praised.

New workflows, knowledge sharing, and a careful offboarding left JSX running its own platform. Leadership called it one of their most effective transitions.

  • Quality

    100% test coverage.

CI/CD pipelines and automated checks keep the app reliable as it grows.

  • Room to earn

Built for revenue past the seat.

The app’s structure supports new revenue opportunities and a wider JSX digital ecosystem.

  • One brand

App, hangar, and cabin in one design language.

The design system reaches from the mobile app to the departures screens and the in-flight home page.

06If you’re next

What we’d tell a team in JSX’s seat.

  1. 01

Move before the framework does. A deprecated platform like Xamarin gets harder to change every month you stay on it.

  2. 02

Plan the handoff from day one. Knowledge transfer and offboarding are part of the build, and they decide whether you own the app afterward.

  3. 03

Use the vendor’s SDK where it exists. Navitaire’s Dart SDK took much of the weight off a complex backend integration.

  4. 04

Design for the next revenue line now. JSX asked for a structure that could carry loyalty programs and rental cars, on top of seats.

Roll credits.
