What is Flutter and why does it matter?

The Flutter Community is already well-versed in the numerous reasons to use Flutter, Google's toolkit for building beautiful, natively compiled applications for mobile, web, and desktop from a single codebase.

However, when talking to those who aren't as familiar with it (or haven't heard of it 😱), sometimes we have to go back to the beginning and help people understand what it is and why it's so important. Fortunately, there are many blogs, social media posts, and articles we could (and often do) show them about why Flutter is an ideal multi-platform app development solution (like this one: "Accelerating with Flutter" by eBay Motors).

There are so many great things about Flutter that it’s difficult to distill them down into a few sentences. But, we thought it would be useful to create a simple one-pager to help people quickly understand Flutter.

Our one-page summary quickly explains how Flutter enables engineers to build apps for any platform from a single codebase, how teams do more with Flutter, and how companies of all sizes can benefit from Flutter — from a startup with two employees to enterprise companies with large teams of engineers.
