Last week, our president David DeRemer appeared on a podcast with Venturi Group, a leading IT recruiting firm in the UK, to talk about our work leading the Flutter transformation.
In the episode, he talks about Flutter — Google’s toolkit for building beautiful, natively compiled applications for mobile, web, and desktop from a single codebase — as well as how to determine if Flutter is the best choice for your business, and how companies can successfully transform with Flutter.
David notes that over the past 6-12 months, we’ve had more interest from companies with existing engineering teams looking for experience and expertise to help them navigate a transition to Flutter.
We already know that Flutter is a no-brainer for startups. When starting from scratch, Flutter is a powerful solution that allows companies to build beautiful applications quickly, ship features, and roll out to multiple devices in a matter of weeks.
But what about big companies with existing native apps?
These companies may have experienced native development teams, legacy code, and expectations from management about how to grow and scale, and may not want to lose momentum by switching to a completely new framework.
The good news is that Flutter is at a stage where there is a supportive community and enough tooling and third-party packages to make switching to Flutter worthwhile. In addition, Flutter can offer companies an edge over competitors.
You just have to decide if Flutter is right for your business and if so, make the investment to get over the hurdle.
